Located in Saint Rambert, France since 1826, Verrerie de Saint Just is the oldest existing large scale manufacturer of mouth-blown sheet glass in the world. Throughout its rich and long history, Saint Just has remained the world's foremost leader in restoration (reproduction) clear styles, flashed, seedy, craquele, reamy, and streaky glasses. Along with the mouth-blown styles, Saint Just manufactures the ever popular drawn antique series called MNA. Please view the videos below in our "Knowledge Center" for a one of a kind look into these unique manufacturing processes. |

Mouth Blown Glass
This old world method of creating sheet glass has been around for hundreds of years. Molten glass is "blown" into cylinders and then cut into thin sheet glass. View the "Blown Glass" video in our Knowledge Center for a demonstration of this extraordinary process.

Drawn (plain) Glass
This Process was used primarily for window applications, prior to the float glass method of producing clear glass. Glass is drawn vertically up approximately 30 feet from ground level and is known as the "Fourcault Drawn Method". The glass is as optically clear as float glass, but with a slight distortion and minimal seed content.

Drawn (textured) Glass
The same process as drawn plain glass, that is produced by the Fourcault Method, is used to form this beautiful, slightly textured glass. As the glass is vertically drawn, the surface is lightly scored to form a velvet like finish, a favorite for door, window, and cabinet manufacturers.

Float Glass
The process of "floating" molten glass over a bed of tin was invented in the mid-1950's by Alistair Pilkington. It is still the world's main process of producing clear glass for the building trade. A second step is added to the float glass process, transforming it into a lightly distorted glass. This is an economical alternative to mouth blown restoration styles, but with some added benefits of larger sheet dimensions and tempering ability. |

Rolled Glass
This glass manufacturing process is how most stained and architectural textured glass is produced. Molten glass is forced out of the oven and squeezed by a roller on the top and bottom. These rollers smooth out, as well as control the thickness of the sheets. If the rollers are impressed with a pattern, the glass takes on that pattern on its surface. |
